Week Eight

Nothing happened this week. The Royal Mail, Virgin, and the extras agency couldn’t be bothered to let me know that my applications had been unsuccessful.

When I say nothing happened, I do of course mean on the job hunting side of things. In fact, it was a very good week indeed. My band got offered a last minute show in with a band called Humanfly, which was a great night, and my friends band, Genetiks, from Germany, came over and stayed at mine for a few days as I was putting a show on for them on the Friday night. It was the first time that I’d put on a show where all the responsibility was on me. It was a superb night and had actually gone better than I thought it could, which was nice.

Oh, and the other thing that happened that week was that Google emailed me to tell me that they had shut my Adsense account. People had been abusing the pay-per-click system and the sixty pounds I’d amassed wasn’t going to be paid to me, instead it was being returned to the advertisers. I wasn’t best pleased at the time but I soon got over it. After all, it was a bit cheeky putting pay-per-click ads on to a blog about being unemployed. I knew I’d get sympathy clicks and the system would be abused, that’s why I put them there! The funny thing is, on the Adsense helpful tips they have lots of advice about getting people to click the ads. I had discovered one but they didn’t like it.
